Not what I ordered at all. I wanted the movie not the 1965 30th Anniversary Soundtrack. I was extremely unhappy when I opened the package, and did not find any shipping papers or a return address to send it back. It was the first time I have ever received anything through Amazon that did not have any shipping information.
Zhivago November 11, 2009 Jim U (Kansas City) In the movie, it is stated that there is nothing more a Russian loves than poetry - This soundtrack is poetry in music....

Doctor Zhivago: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - The Deluxe Thirtieth Anniversary Edition, 33 extra tracks in addition to the initial 12 off the original album, 45 tracks total.
The musical motifs for the original soundtrack that came out in the 60's are jostled to weave a rich tapestry of images and feelings.
All the tracks on The Deluxe Thirtieth Anniversary Edition are in chronological order of the story.
Oddly enough, the original soundtrack album had an outtake that was never used in the movie.
On The Deluxe Thirtieth Anniversary Edition there are 6 tracks have never been heard until now, because it was decided music wasn't needed to enhance a particular scene.
The last cluster of songs on the Deluxe Thirtieth Anniversary Edition were recorded and performed by Maurice Jarre and entourage during wind down sessions in between main takes.
Oscar for best score.
In addition to a wonderful 4 page letter by Maurice Jarre, liner notes supply a blow by blow account of each motif and it's meaning to the framework of the film.
Doctor Zhivago's Russia.
Vast tracts of land, stretching farther than the eye can see, cut up and divided for people to live along outlying waterways.
World War advancing on the western front.
Finality of an impending grave, candle light procession, everybody has something to add or take away from the panorama.
Heavy snow drifts, caught in a flurry, fight to fend the ice from seeping too far into the bones.
A new philosphy sweeping the nation, wealthy barons and a life of excess are to be avoided at all cost.
Idea appeals to the poverty stricken who have nothing to lose.
Red Army drives home the message.
Entire cities vacated, citizens are to live on communist farms.
Unprescedented time in history.
A Country uprooted by Civil War.
No doctors, lawyers or former elders of the State, their fortunes yanked from underneath them.
It'd take many years to return to their practice, a semblance of their former self.
Life in jumble, no sense of order, brothers and sisters working to adapt new survival skills.
Vacated villages and entire city blocks, miles of empty ghost towns.
Artist placed under extra scrutiny, nothing could be more frivelous for the new working Republic.
Soldiers have their own voice, the will and great good of the people in mind.
Heaven forbid, anyone get in the way of Russia's secret love affair for poetry.
What could be more practical than a doctor who's philosphy is to stich people back together with the sole intent to restore citizens to their homeland.
Yuri Zhivago
A doctor with the heart of a poet.
Made his reputation as a writer, and a general practioner, second.
Fighting for proper ideals has its' place in the world, but people aren't made to be ripped limb from limb.
Scourge all suffering and disease.
In a perfect world, it is your destiny and mine, to be a good provider, husband and wife.
Not always so for the soldier imbued with the heart of a poet.
War tears us apart from the things we love most.
Seek to unbridle your passion.
The Russian winter is long, and takes many lives.
The pending war much more dangerous.
The march home, a long time away.
Work to divide your loyalties.
A vast expanse laden with snow without food or proper walking boots is a death trap for even the hardiest man, woman and child.
But when you have something to live for, each snowy field is an ice palace.
One more hill, closer to returning home.
A poet lives among the trees, their spirit is lifted among the branches.
The sun breaks through the canopy and warms the forest floor.
Spring is on the rise, the temperature more forgiving.
Fields of cultivated daffodils to enjoy among ploughed potatos.
Love is in the air.
It's all in Maurice Jarre's unforgetable arrangements.

Some music just doesn't grow old. One of my favorite soundtracks and I was just a child when it came out.
